Looking for a steering rack for a coupe gen3 or roadster, I assume they’ll both be the same. Before I buy new, maybe someone has one laying around they ended up not using. I’m doing electric steering so either rack would work.

You don't want a PS rack if you're not going to power it through the usual hydraulic method. While I personally haven't done it, it's mentioned on here frequently that de-powered PS racks are a really bad idea.

Interesting, so I assume something like this is what I’m after

Rock auto doesn’t seem to stock any specific manual rack for the muwtang

No. These cars do not use a Mustang II rack. I haven't checked Rock Auto but if you care to shop Napa, Autozone, O'Reilly, etc. you're after a 1979-1993 Mustang rack. You can also go to Unisteer for #8000450 (15:1 ratio) or #8000370 (20:1 ratio). Flaming River also has new units; FR1520 for 15: and FR1503 for 20:1.

My buddy needed a new manual rack for his challenge car. Mark at Breeze, where we used to get Unisteer racks (what I used a couple times), recommended a BBB INDUSTRIES N1010106 as a good quality piece. He bought it and is very happy with it. Seems a cut above the usual parts start reman units. For a price of course. https://www.rockauto.com/en/partsearch/?partnum=N1010106. Rock Auto has a number of options for Mustangs. 79-93 as Jeff said.

Hey Jeff. Yeah, brain fade on my part. Yes, that's a power rack and yes I knew that. Forgot the OP was asking about a manual rack. :p But it does seem like a good option for an upgraded PS rack.

I am late to find this thread. I am seeking a "less aggressive" steering ratio power steering rack to replace the rack I have (about 2.3 turns lock to lock). I'm wondering if this rack will make much of a difference....or maybe if someone could suggest another power rack with an even slower ratio (perhaps around 3.5 turns lock to lock). I can't help but wonder if maybe a Fairmont or T-bird rack might have such a ratio?
