Folks,

After correcting the fuel filter issue this AM, I attached the side pipes and went to fire up and success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

https://youtu.be/hzCodSQtTgI

Wow what a feeling. No leaks and comes to temperature just fine. Restarted it again after letting is sit for 30 minutes to see if it was a fluke. Still started right up.

Two issues: Major one is when I start the engine I can no longer put the car in gear. Will call Mike on that one. It may be that I need to do another bleed or adjust the slave. The second one is fuel gauge and I should be able to track that one down.

Great day today.

Thanks

Bill

congrats!
regarding the fuel gauge, have you calibrated it yet? there are instructions w/ the gauges I believe.

Well done!. You are right where I am at now. As someone else told me, don't forget to remove cardboard on radiator.

Congrats Bill!

The FFR supplied (OEM Ford) sender is 16-158 ohms so the Dakota option for 10-150 is going to be pretty close.

Well one of the tow issues resolved. The easiest of course was the fuel gauge. I checked that the Dakota Digital could see the fuel gauge sender. If I unplugged the fuel gauge sender at the tank, I got an error code on the display telling fuel gauge sender disconnected. OK step one was not the issue. I removed the fuel gauge sender from the tank and wanted to verify that I could do the ohm test and verify functionality of the gauge readings. When I pulled the sender out, I noticed little or no fuel in the tank. Dah!!!!! I had followed Paul's (EdwardB) advice and minimized fuel for the first start. Well I checked the fuel gauge sender anyway since it was out and the ohm check was good for the range of positions of the float. Hooked everything back up and added more gas to the tank and flipped on the ignition switch and voila low fuel light off and reading the fuel. Will have to wait for calibration after I get the clutch issue resolved.

Just another moment of not thinking through the information I saw and instantly believing I had an electrical or sender problem. -- This car always humbles you and makes sure you know each system fully.

Thanks

Bill

Well folks with the help from Mike Forte (spoon feeding me on clutch operation), I was able to get the clutch to disengage after replacement of the the piston on the slave cylinder from 3 1/2" to 4". That extra 1/2" allowed me to get the additional play necessary for clutch disengagement . Getting closer to go kart now. Woo hoo!!!!!!!!!!
