I am finally going to find the time to make body mods on a 25 year old FFR MK I. The rear shape does not follow the radius. Not even close IMO. Has anyone modified these fenders. I will also correct door gaps and strengthen the hood etc. Of course a repaint will be done. Any help would be appreciated. Explored a couple ways but just want best method. Thanks, Gary

I suggest that before messing w/ the shape of the wheel opening that you do the dropped butt mod. Makes the body behind the doors look almost identical to a MkIV and reshapes the wheel opening somewhat.

For me, the DB isn't a huge advantage. You loose space above the trunk leading edge and don't accomplish what you're looking for. I did exactly what you ask about. I reshaped all four corners about six years ago because I did not like the side "bell bottom" appearance at all! I did this during my frame off re-build of my MKI chassis. Basically closed in approx. 4" accross the bottom of the arc which really made the car much better to look at. I also retained all my useable trunk space. Here's a picture of my modified MKI on top (blue) and a MKIII I did for a person with stock body. Huge difference, imo.

That is exactly what i want it to look like. What method of reshaping did you use?

I did this all myself using the existing body by cutting and reshaping the arc along with laminating and shaping the fill area. A lot of pictures on my website. Shows what and how I did it.

Thanks for the pictures. Confirms my thoughts on how to correct the shape. Helps on how much gap and where to cut for fitment. I will post on progress. Hope to start before Christmas. Have saved your website to favorites for many future views. Thanks, Gary
