I've been running into some steering shaft clearance issues with the coyote engine install kit and the power steering. I think the power steering stuff may be the same shaft as the manual shaft but what I'm finding is that the mount tab on the coyote accelerator pedal (it's a legit Ford coyote pedal out of the control pack box) seems to be in the way of the steering shaft.

So.. i'm not sure what I should do here. It seems like the holes for everything only match up one way. Should I take a grinder and grind out this extra plastic on this tab?

If I do that will it weaken the overall pedal?

To be clear, right now the shaft through the pillow block bearing wont match up to going into the footbox bearing. So I clearly have to do something and I can't see anything else I'm missing so I thought maybe someone here would have a suggestion.

Thanks,
Kevin

I've personally not had one of the FF Coyote DBW mounts that fit without modification. Many other builders have noted the same thing. The early one I received I didn't even use. So don't be afraid to modify the location of the mounting plate to eliminate the interference. Additionally, the Ford DBW module can be trimmed within reason without affecting the strength or whatever. As long as you end up with the same number of bolts holding it on. The rest of the steering system (pillow blocks, shaft, etc.) are the same whether Coyote or not, manual or PS. So nothing to do there.

Thanks! That's what I suspected. I'm going to see if I can fit my hot knife in there to cut away that piece so it's line follows the accelerator pedal mounting block.

The firewall bearing pillow block and bearing work much better mounted on the inside of the foot box, not on the outside.

I moved it to exactly like that earlier today. Thanks for the tip!
