My POL shows a fuel tank cover. I was expecting it in early October, but it still has not show up. I have not seen any mention of "fuel tank cover" in any post I have searched. My question is what is this, do I need it. and has anyone received a fuel tank cover

It's a black plastic piece that covers the complete bottom half of the fuel tank. Visible in the picture below. Sorry, this is a Coupe. But the same tank as the Roadster and the best picture I had. You can nearly complete the car without it. The fuel tank can be hung just about any time. Even placed temporarily without the cover during the build if that helps. A long time ago, there was a debate about whether it was needed or not. I'd make sure to use it. Are you positive FF has this on your POL? Have they offered any promise dates? Typically the cover is packaged with the tank in the same box. A little strange that you got one without the other.

It's on my POL too (April 2023 kit delivery) and I was told October. It's definitely not in the tank box. Plenty of other stuff for me to do without it.

mine was backordered in 2019. I'd wait to install the tank until you get it so you don't have to drop the tank more than necessary unless you have absolutely nothing else to work on. I had plenty of other things to do while I waited.

In stock at Late Model Restoration for $125. Order it from them and ask FFR to credit you. You’ll have it in hand in less than a week.

I wonder if you could just coat it with bedliner and just be done with it ? Tossing around that idea

So you think bed liner is going to protect the tank if you get hit?

I wouldn’t. The shield is for protection from impacts, not corrosion.

Still waiting on my cover; also had an April delivery date. I've reached out several times and was told to expect it in late October/November. We'll see.
