How did you get your nickname?

I happened to be looking at "Mad Dog's" profile and saw the reason it stuck to him.

It reminded me of another "Mad Dog" I used to sail with. Her name was Hilda but one day at a party she got tickled at a joke and spit up some beer. So the beer foam was running down her face when somebody snapped a pic. From then on she was "Mad Dog".

I got mine from a fellow worker. Three yrs into the part time job at a boat yard, our contractor asked the head welder why he called me "Frosty". He told him that I was a good worker but by the time I finished a job there was frost on it! I guess I was a little of a perfectionist.

My grandson is extremely outgoing and friendly. I hang out with him a lot and when he sees people he knows, which by the way is everywhere, he say "this is my Papaw". I eventually resigned myself to just being NicksPapaw. Heck, at Halloween, we went through my subdivision and everytime people opened the door, they would say "Hi Nick!" :) I think he might be the Mayor one day. If everyone that knows him votes, it will be a landslide.

I was in a 6mo long demo school with GI Joe and we were getting new instructors (for new subjects/applications) every few days. On our desks, we had index cards folded in half length-wise with our last names written on them to make it easier for the instructors. I guess the big name tag on the uniforms wasn't enough, heh.

While we were out on break, someone reversed my last name (Adams) and wrote Smada on my index card's blank side and faced it forward. We came back in and the teacher asked me, "What's smada?". I thought she said "what's the matter", so my reply was, "nothing, I'm fine". After a who's on first, what's on second moment my nickname Smada was cemented for the next few months.

I started a consulting company about 15 years ago called MP Technologies (my initials). I used MTech as my user-id for a couple years. Then I got into Slot-Car racing and volunteered to be the Tech Inspector (my buddies called me the Tech Nazi) and it really stuck then.

Through the years it's been a variation on the theme: Mr. Toad's Wild Ride", "Mr. Chris's Wild Ride", "E-Ticket Ride", etc. I just picked the "E-Ticket Ride" handle.

Now in high school - continuing hay fever and sinus problems led to "Loogie Lewis"....

Most of the guys I hung out with in High School were driving SBC's . . . I had a BBF . . . hence the name Big Blocker. The "Doc" part came later when I went to work for Ford and was repairing (doctoring) customers broken cars . . . that led to Big Blocker - Doc. Now I even have an (un)official avatar . . . hoping that Disney doesn't sue me. Big Blocker is the official name on both FF forums, but every one knows me as Doc.

I use it on forums/video games because I thought it was cool and isn't obviously Japanese. I kind of have the guy's personality as I am brash and stubborn.
