Does the body rest on the upper square tubes that run from the firewall forward to the radiator. I am wanting to mount something on that rail under the passenger side footbox. I need to know if there is clearance at that point to see if I can use a hex bolt through the tube with a nut. I am sure as you go forward at some point the body makes contact with this tube.

Thanks for the help in advance.

That tube does not support/contact the body. Some people (I did) use a block spacer up front between that tube and the body, creating/supporting a 3/4" - 1"ish clearance. I think you can have the head of a bolt sticking up through that tube pretty much anywhere without causing interference with the body. FYI, contrary to your guess, If anything, the clearance is closer more rearward, and the body is relatively higher with respect to that tube more forward.

I would not. Make your bracket so the fastener goes through horizontal not vertical. If you ever need to remove the fastener you may not be able to with the body on.
