I have read in several instances when it is best to remote mount the sending unit for the oil pressure gauge. My question is what about grounding it , if is normally grounded through the mounting threads to the block?

Speedhut senders are two wire and are not grounded through the body.

In the case where your gauge utilizes a 1-wire sender beware of the possibility of a poor/missing ground due to the insulative properties of either Teflon tape or thread sealant being present on the mounting threads.

It’s the Speedhut senders that seem to be prone to failure, possibly due to vibration. I have remote mounted those however I have one wire Autometer senders which have mounted directly to the block for over 15 years without issue.

I mounted mine remotely because the stock aluminum extension cracked and started to leak. That was after a few years of racing. I used AN lines and fittings, and it worked perfectly for years.

FWIW, in my 50+ years of wrenching I have never had an issue with grounding when using Teflon tape or thread sealant.
