I'm planning to run my harness up through the bottom of the firewall forward. For those who have done this, what grommet(s) did you find work well? I believe FFR supplies these with the RF harness (which I'm not using).

They should work, but it looks like they require a 1.25" hole, and I've got 1.5" to work with. So a little tight.

I ended up doing this:

I'll seal them up when I wrap the looms and get everything finalized.

I can't remember what size I used but with my firewall fwd, my car is away being painted but I ordered grommets from the Ron Francis web site.

Rubber grommets are not what they used to be and will often perish and fail after only a few years. Might be worthwhile going for plastic grommets instead. Also make sure you deburr the holes really well. That will protect both the grommet and in the case of grommet failure, we will assist in protecting the cables as well.

Cheers,

Nige

Agree that most things aren't what they used to be, unfortunately. I'm going to make sure I do all I can to prevent problems.

Yes, they've got some nice products. I'm using their split grommet out back where the loom passes through the trunk floor.

In pure OCD fashion, I redid the grommets, taking into account the good pont Nige made above. I just wasn't comfortable with the long-term integrity of those cheap rubber grommets, especially given how close/tight they were to the cut aluminum. I had some 1/2" box adapters in my electrical supplies, which fit perfectly. And then I used some 6/3 romex sheathing to help a little more. I'll use braided sleeving and loom tape when I get it all finalized.

Very nice. Over the years I have used split loom a lot.

Recently I came across this style.

I think it looks a lot more like a factory harness than the other stuff.

x2 for split looms but I do really like what OB6 did here (kind of wish this thread existed when I was deciding what to do on that front). Now I'm going to go stare at what I did and decide how much of a mess to make making sure those wires stay in good shape.

I'm definitely going to use the braided split loom. It really finishes things nicely. But I won't install it until I have things working.

No firewall forward but a similar concept. A little split and a little cloth tape through grommets. Can't recall where I got the grommets from (had some already and others from Ebay).
