Hey everyone - 625 miles on my recently graduated mark4. We are loving it! Taking it to car shows with my build partner's 1996 Viper (instagram @SNAKESWITHBRAKES).

#1 - My wife has a sensitive nose. She loves the look of the cobra, but constantly complains about the exhaust/fuel smell after I drive it (on my clothes, hair e.g.), and especially after she rides in it. Anyone have any solutions? We are running a 427w / Pro Flo 4 EFI with Gas'n heasders and pipes.

#2 - Speedhut vintage tach does not match the Edelbrock smartphone app tach readings. I wired it per the edelbrock instructions, which is a single tach wire from the computer to the gauge. At idle I have adjusted the tach needle to be pretty close, within about 200 RPM, but at higher revs the dash can read 5000 and the app is telling me 5700 and we hit the rev limiter. I have the tach programmed correctly for a V8 (I think), it just seems to be mapping in a non-linear manner. Any thoughts?

Do you have cat coverters? If not your exhaust will always be smelly.

So its either cats or a new wife?

Good luck with the wife and the smell. Sounds like your tach needs to be recalibrated. I'm not familiar with Speedhut gauges. My Chevrolet Performance ECM puts out a tach signal for a 4 cylinder and had to set the dip switches in the Auto Meter tach to match.

Contact Speedhut and ask them for their input. My experience with their customer service was top notch. They'll do whatever they can to get it right.

To me the smell is part of the experience. It lets everyone know you have been contending with a fire breathing beast.
