Hello, has anyone fitted or considered fitting a fuel surge tank?

For my LS427 powered Type 65, i had to get an aftermarket fuel pump (Holley 12-132 455lph). Due to the size of the fuel pump it would not fit into the fuel tank with the stock tank baffle in place, i had to cut it out.
The more i think about it, the more it seems like i might need to use a surge tank or install some sort of baffle in my fuel tank. Any thoughts or experiences?

Also, is it possible to remove the fuel tank, after the body has been installed? Looking at the car, seems like in theory it should be possible, but...

I use a surge tank. I have Walbro 450 lph pumps in the FFR supplied tank and the surge tank, which is made by Radium Engineering. Both are the E85 approved variants as that is what I run. I have a Ford based 427 running Holley EFI. I do lots of autocross and never ever have a fuel starvation issue. For what it's worth, I did not have to modify the FFR supplied tank to fit the pump I used. I am also using the Holley hanger.
