We had our first start today! Complete kit delivered Jan '23, Engine Delivered Feb '23, First Start Oct '23!

We ran straight headers, exhaust pipes are in the basement. Turned over well no leaks in the coolant system, PS system, or engine/trans. Had a minor leak at the fuel pressure regulator, that ended up being from the gauge on the front. I removed the gauge, dried the hole out then installed the plug with high temp thread sealant. I'll let things dry more overnight and run it again tomorrow to verify no more leaks under pressure.

As another friend on the forum said the first start was "glorious" and the straight headers let all my neighbors know as well.

awesome. such a great feeling. for others in the future about to consider first start, I'd personally have the car outside with a couple of buddies looking for leaks and have a fire extinguisher nearby just in case.

Congratulations! Always a great moment. I remember every first start I've ever done like it was yesterday.

My nextdoor neighbor's kitchen is close to my driveway. When I did my first start (in the car) they came over to see what it was. Said their dishes were rattling in the cabinets. That's when I knew I had the correct cam lol

Once you know the fuel pressure is correct you're best to leave that gauge out. They're prone to leaking which is not usually a good thing!

Thanks egchewy79! We had a longer clip showing my son and I walking around inspecting for leaks and we had two fire extinguishers on standby and a high volume fan blowing the fumes out of the garage. I clipped the video shorter as that part of the video isn't very exciting! Great tips nonetheless!

Great stuff! Congrats! Don't forget to take off the radiator protective cardboard if/when you run for any length of time. :D
