Decided to put some high flow cats on the Coyote motor. Still go carting, but I always smell like fuel after driving it around or it idling. Had a local welder I know tig them in for me. I was surprised it actually sounds deeper, still some great crackling and popping on deceleration in gear or down shifts. Fuel smell seems to be gone.

I have never had a Coyote engine smell of fuel. Built over 100 with that drivetrain. Are you sure your not masking a tuning problem?

Those CAT J-pipes are beautiful. The high flow CATs used are so slim I wonder if they can do much to clean up the exhaust.

Have not gotten it on a dyno yet to check if it is fat or lean, but only running the Ford Racing program and computer. It is a new Gen1 motor, that has been in the crate for 8 years. Any of my cars without cats, even newer ones , always seem to have the load up smell. Maybe it is Florida gasoline, but I have seen posts here where people have said they push the Coyote cars out of the garage so they don’t smell like fuel after backing out and through the fumes.

Metal substrate 2.5” cats from PLM, Private Label Manufacturing, so far seems like they are working. You can definitely see the honey comb inside. I am finishing up the body work and mounting and then off to the paint guy. Once I get some miles on it and then throw it on the dyno, I will have a better idea if they are working and if they are hurting the power.

Hello. What did you have to purchase in order to bring to the welder for them to put this together?
I am having an issue that I am in New Jersey and they require a catalytic converter on a newer engine block. I ordered the kit from Factory Five with their catalytic converter option but they called me and informed me that the one they supply is only for the big block engines and I was planning on ordering from BluePrint Engines the Ford 302 EFI for my build. With that being said, I think that I am left alone to figure out how I am getting catalytic converters into my build.

Superfly. I have a set of the 302 converters that FFR used to sell.
PM me if interested.

Are you running shorty headers and J-pipes? If so, bring the J-pipes and cats to a welder or good muffler shop, important that they keep the header flange in the same position on the J-Pipe. GESI S Sport cats make an EPA compliant short cat, you may need that for NJ, those are pricey but should pass the feds. If Mike has a set that is already set up, that will be easier and cheaper.

Thanks so much for the replies.
I did send over that PM so hopefully the solution with that is the easiest approach. Otherwise I will look into finding the right shop around to do that kind of work.
