View Full Version : Parades?
Just curious: Any of you guys use your roadsters for parades? I'm imagining a politician or homecoming court members sitting on the passenger side rear deck (on a towel of course). Would only work for a single roll hoop car.
For that matter, anyone use Vinty or similar to make your cars (with you in control of it) available for photo shoots, movie or commercial work, special events - corporate/weddings??? Seems like it would be a fun way to show off your car and make some money in the process.

I have put my car in a parade. It was pretty awesome. I have a dual roll bar but if I didn't my dead body would need to be crawled over before anyone sat on the body of my car. :)

That part of the body hovers above the rear cockpit wall aluminum and isn't really supported by anything. I would never let anyone sit there.

I've done parades a few times. Put a pad and a towel over the seat for them to stand on and they held on to the roll bar (Challenge car). It's a royal PIA driving in a parade tho. I only do it because a good friend is my local rep. The 1st gear stop and go and lumpy idle/racing cam are not very parade friendly.

This post just saved me from making a large mistake. I was asked to take my buddies daughter in the homecoming parade and let her squeeze between the roll bars. That's a no go. THANK YOU.

I found these on the internet. If only I could find my photos!
My car is black and dark maroon, just so happens to be it's the colors of the local high school. About 2007 A girl at the gas station begged me to be in the homecoming parade. I did it a few years in a row. I put some microfiber towels on the rear lid for the homecoming queen(s) to sit on. It looks like it would work with dual rollbars if the queen is skinny enough. (Presumably so.)
Years ago my car was photographed for a Mother's Products calendar, they never used them.
I'm in LaLa Land and I signed my car up for movie shoots in the mid 2000s when Cobras were less common. I never got a notification but I'd gladly do it today.

Ugh....that was my nightmare Jeff. I've been in 3 Christmas parades and was asked to do a Homecoming. I said no to the Homecoming due to fear of what you just posted. Never really was sure if that was a reality, even with a light teenager. Maybe it would be different if one sat further back on the car to distribute the weight better than directly over the lip. Guess you take a chance whichever way.

Pull the passenger seat & let the honoree stand (or kneel) in the cockpit while holding the roll bar for balance. Or maybe a stool to get the honoree up a little higher.
