I've been mocking up my floors so that I can begin drilling the holes for the rivets. There is a gap between the panels at the transmission tunnel. I've looked at other builds and some have a small gap while others don't have one at all. I'm able to shift the panels so that there isn't a gap (or less of a gap) but then that seems to throw off coverage elsewhere. My question is, does the sealant cover this gap or do I really need to try and get the panels as close together as possible?

I'd suggest, it you really want to do it right, add a "scab" from the bottom.... scab being a strip of aluminum the length of the seam and about 1.5" wide. Attach with pop rivets and silicon sealant between the floor and the scab.

If these get the insulation panels like the hotrod, then its irrelevant because the panels will cover the gap. If it was me though I would do what Mark said. At least on the bottom one.

I set my underside panels tight, no gap. But I left a gap on the top side. Doesn't really seem to matter on the top side as it falls into that area behind the trans.
