I recently bought a stock '65 Mustang 2-speed wiper rotary switch to replace the FFR wiper toggle. I've searched the forum for the proper way to wire this, but haven't been able to find a clear answer. Has anyone used this switch before (C5ZZ-17A553), and if so, how did you wire it up with the FFR wiper motor to get the park function working properly. I've seen this post (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?32365-Needing-a-rotating-wiper-switch!&p=369497&viewfull=1#post369497) that says you just have to jumper two of the contacts - looks like maybe that is a slightly different rotary switch (Ron Francis WS-61). I've seen this post (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?39151-Wiper-motor-wiring&p=448994&viewfull=1#post448994) indicating you need to use a dual relay setup - I believe this one is referencing the lower section on this explanation (http://vitessesteve.co.uk/LucasStuff/Triumph-2-speed-wiper-wiring). But the dual relay diagram in that link doesn't label the switch contacts so not sure if it is the same and if so, how to hook it up to the switch contacts properly.

If anyone has successfully wired the stock 65 Mustang wiper switch to the FFR wiper motor, can you share a schematic of how you hooked it up?

If I remember correctly there’s a set of contacts that make when the switch is in the off position. A hot connected to one and the other goes to the park wire of the wiper motor. I didn’t have a diagram so had to play with the switch and a meter to figure out which connection points did what. The switch set I used was out of a 72 F100 but are pretty much the same. If you need more specifics I think I might have made a rough diagram that I might be able to find.

Did you end up using relays? One or two or not required?

I recently installed a Painless harness in my 65 Mustang. There is a pin out in the manual for the switch - you can download the manual from the Painless website.

Great thanks - I'll check it out!

I spoke to the Ron Francis people last week. They said that the WS-61 part is plug and play into the FFR harness. I don't have a way to verify, but am going to buy that part. I just need to know what other knob choices there are. I can't tell if the knob screws on or inserts into the housing.

No I didn’t need any relays using the old oem Ford switch and the FFR wiper assembly.
I also looked through my build info and I only have some wire colors listed which are from the plug that came with the switch from the old truck. No contact numbers I’m afraid sorry. I did have a note saying the park output connects with the low speed internally when in the off position though if that helps any.

For anyone interested in using a 65 Mustang rotary wiper switch (for 2-speed motor), I confirmed the pinout on the switch. This is P/N C5ZZ-17A553-D (or WWS3 at some places). I "think" it needs to get wired up to the FFR Wiper Motor like this but I haven't confirmed it yet. You can ignore the wire colors going to the switch itself, that's from the Painless Wiring Harness diagram. I plan to test this over the holidays.
NOTE: I haven't tested this yet to confirm if this setup works. I'll report back after testing.
