Install Kits for Mk4 and '33 Hot Rod Near Completion

A lot of guys have been asking us for install kits and instructions on putting Ford's 5.0L Coyote engine into either a Mk4 Roadster or '33 Hot Rod. We installed a 5.0L Coyote into a Hot Rod last fall on HorsePower TV and just recently we dropped the new engine into our red Mk4.

The longest lead time part has been the headers and the good guys at BBK are manufacturing headers dedicated for both the '33 Hot Rod and Mk4 Roadster. Jesper in engineering fit the first articles last week and it should be 6-8 weeks before we get production parts. The attached DRAFT install procedure if for the Mk4 Roadster and is for informational/background purposes only. We have a number of customers currently installing these engines and we want to make sure our install kit is easy to incorporate.

Note: This is a DRAFT DOCUMENT. For example, we have already tested and installed a LOKAR pedal in place of the modified Mustang throttle pedal mentioned in this procedure. This document is to give you an idea of where we are in the process of developing the 5.0L Coyote install kit.

Looks good, I would just add that before Canton or Moroso did anything with a pan NRC had a pan with a proven good track record for 4.6 cars and now for the Coyote. Just my opinion, Richard.

Nice write-up. You can get the pedal to fit w/o cutting. Here's the bracket I made. It bolts to the pedal bracket already in the chassis.

I assume all the Coyote install parts will be available a la carte?

Dave,
First off let me say thanx for a great 15 years and many more I hope. All the best to you and your crew for 2012.
Awesome customer support and the timing couldn't be better for my application. I should be installing my modified coyote within the next month, not sure how the wiring will go at this point due to the mods but the detail is great.
One quick question regarding the headers though. Are they just going staight into the side pipes with O2 bungs welded in or is there going to be cats incorporated somehow? Looking forward to the updates as this moves forward. Many thanx.
Regards,
Andy

And I have one!
Thanks Richard. Now I just need to get to that point in my build...

Thanks Dave. It was almost a year ago I started posting and emailing you guys about the feasability of putting a Coyote into a roadster. A few like Dave Borden (with the help of ASTGlen), and Richard Oben were pioneering enough to lead the charge. I am insanely grateful for you guys putting this document together and helping to figure this out for the FFR community. I hope you will continue to updated it. I'm a little ways away from tackling the motor install and hope the process gets firmed up by the time I am ready to get the motor in.

If you don't mind me asking, which tranny, rear end, and brakes are you going with? It looks like you have a TKO-500 in the parts list, right?

Chris,

There are few guys here (Richard and Ron to be specific :D ) that have been very helpful to me in getting my Coyote wired. If my pan arrives this week, I should get it started this weekend (fingers crossed). Then I'll be willing to pass on the goodwill and help others. It's a lot of wires, but once you read, and reread the Ford manual, it's very manageable. And this is coming from a person who HATES wiring of any kind.

Cool. I hate wiring too at that will be my least favorite set of tasks, but probably give me the most sense of accomplishment. Keep me posted.

The wiring is no big deal, feel free to call me if you want. Once you understand the wiring is two different parts, Coyote and the rest, RF or Painless or whatever it is not difficult. Thanks for the kind words, Richard.

:( Broken link to the pdf and images. Guess they didn't make it in the move to the new site.

Should have done my due diligence. http://www.factoryfive.com/whats-new/progress-being-made-on-5-0l-coyote-install-kit/

Planning to put this in my kit as well! How will this be in terms of balance? Im assuming this is somewhat of a lighter option with respect to the other engines available?
