The shop I'm having finishing my car has brought up some good issues about the rear portion of the side windows. Please feel free to share ideas or address concerns as I ponder different ways of handling that part of my car.
NOTE: I'm in TX and thus will be a heavy user of AC; so I must have a good seal in that area for hot days (most days!).
1. If I use the flared windows to suck air into the cockpit - this is obviously good only on non-AC use days. Given that I could do what some have done and fit plexiglass inserts in to prevent that air from getting in - however, this will create a lot of positive air pressure and probably knock those inserts out.
2. I could fabricate slots in the bodywork so as to insert glass or plexiglass inserts to block the air and handle the positive pressure, then would need to cut vents/slots in the back of the curved plexiglass piece so the wind/force doesn't tear them off the car.
3. I could NOT install the curved piece at all and instead create a nice permanent glass piece flush with the main window, and then fill in and smooth out the body where the grooves for the curved window piece are
4. The existing main plexiglass race car window with small slide opening: I'm not a huge fan of these, but also don't want to pony up $3500 for the aftermarket power glass windows. Will probably just go with the FFR supplied race car windows as I've heard the car is very loud so people tend to keep the windows closed all the way. Question: do the FFR windows work OK? Do they leak a lot of air in? (or rain on wet days?)
5. Any other side window/rear side window applications that y'all have used that you like?
