im sure its been posted somewhere here, however im going to ask anyway.

Im getting ready to order a gen 3 coupe. 3 link rear. I want to run vintage wheels pin drive 15'' knockoff wheels. I spoke with a saleman there who waid he has sold a few sets to guys building the gen 3 but doesnt have info on the builders suspension specs. He told me that I need the narrowed moser rear (1.5" each side) and front Lower pin drive control arms. I understand that FFR doesnt offer the pin drive width LCAs. I just dont want to order a narrowed rear if im going to have to add wheel spacers anyway. I know the gen 3 bodies are wider than the previous generations. I want the tires to just tuck in under the fenders. planning to run goodyear blue steak tires. has anyone built a solid axle rear car with standard suspension width and the knockoff rim and tire package im looking for?

thanks

I'll just tell you that when you go to pin drive width on the front of a Gen3 Coupe the geometry gets very wonky since there are not alternate UCA mounts to accommodate the required SN95 spindle and adapter. Take a look at that upper control arm (ideally we want the upper and lower arms as well as the tie rods to all be parallel).

I can only imagine the radical camber changes and bump steer that will occur as the suspension moves up and down.

thanks Jeff, I guess the question for me would be, if I just order the front suspension that comes with the complete kit, would I be able to use the trigo pin drive wheels with the adapters it comes with and still retain the correct suspension gyometry?

Anything that you bolt onto the hubs won't change the geometry; makes no difference whether the rims bolt on or are pin drive with adapters the suspension geometry remains the same.

Dan from FFR emailed me back saying that I should be fine with the standard width front end on the coupe alone with the narrowed rear end. FYI

Spacers on the front will alter the scrub radius. As long as there is no transition from positive to negative, or negative to positive, it should have little impact on handling unless you are pushing the limits.
