Figured I'd start a build thread since i've been on the forum for a while. Love learning from all your builds and decided that i'd add mine in hopes it helps someone else. Got my delivery from Stewart transport on Aug 21st. Decided to pull the trigger after ordering my factory 5 catalog in 2020. It'll get a sbc with a holley sniper or dominator FI setup with a tkx trans. Ordered a new moser rear end and A/C for the truck. Stewart transport was awesome to deal with.

Got brake calipers powder coated and painted. Painted my rack and assembled the shocks and rest of the front suspension. Kinda of disappointed in the powder coat quality on some of the parts that factory 5 provided. My frame has multiple places where it was flaking off and parts like the motor mount pieces had flaking also. Looks like no prep was done to these part before coating. (I have been powder coating parts for a local custom motorcycle shop for 7 yrs) Motor mounts don't fit right with the adaptor plates required so I have to machine those a bit, 1/16-1/8" to wide, so now those parts have to be stripped and redone. Moser either sent the wrong plate on the rear end or ffr sent the wrong driveshaft so I'm sorting through that with ffr. Haven't heard anything from them for 2 weeks on it. Thought the firewall was a bit boring after fitting, drilling and tapping holes so I bead rolled some custom pieces to give it some character since I will be running an open engine bay.

First… I have garage envy. Secondly, your firewall looks awesome! Great job on that bead rolling.

Are you doing your own powder coating at home or do you have a shop? Also, is your bead roller a home vice mounted unit or powered? I’ve been looking at northern tool or Eastwood but don’t want to spend a small fortune for something I wouldn’t use very often.

I do my own powder coating at home in my shop. I don't do it full time though. My bead roller is a powered unit with speed and direction control from eastwood. I had a hand crank one and it was a pain to use. My powered one has a deeper throat also so I can do bigger panels now. If you're on instagram I have some of my other work on there. Same handle as here.

That firewall looks amazing! Nice to see a difference from the smooth panel.

Got my steering rack installed. Factory 5 emailed and said that moser had put a different plate on the rear end so the drive shaft they sent me wasn't going to work. They'll ship me another one and i'll have to ship the one I got back to them. Got a delivery of MIK parts also. Hoping to get the brake lines run this weekend. What has everyone else used to coat their fuel tanks? Was thinking of powder coating it or using POR15 since it has the plastic cover that goes on the bottom. powdercoated and installed my rear diff cover also. The bearing supports hit on my pan hard bar but only when the rear suspension is at full extension.

Geez, you’re on the Eric treves pace for building the truck!!! Looks great so far. Definitely going to be looking at the home powder coated for myself when the time comes.

I took a week off of work so don't expect this pace to keep going. :D

Looking great! Let me know how those brake lines treat you. I'm coming up short in the front, the 8" isn't going to reach to the driver's side front mounting location. My T-junction didn't end up in quite the same place as they show in the manual, but I thought it was going to be close enough. Guess not...

Getting frustrated with things. Went to run brake lines and found out that I'm missing more parts. Manual shows flex lines for the rear brakes but nothing on the parts list. Looked at the manual and it shows the rear brakes mounted on the rear of the axle towards the tailgate, then when you run the brake lines it shows the rear brake calipers mounted on the front of the axle. Big difference when you're trying to figure out where to terminate your hard lines. Figured i'd start to mount my fuel tank and low and behold no bolts or nuts for that. Looked back through my parts list and there's no bolts or nuts listed on the parts sheet......

All the same issues I had. I bought hardware for the tank locally.
I had brake lines from the 2006 Mustang donor but they are much too short.
Same issue with e-brake lines, donor lines do not work, too short.
I bought my own 'T' fitting for the rear and did NOT use the F5 supplied brakes line from the front firewall area to the rear. I used the copper colored stuff for that segment.

Got my rear brake line kit yesterday. Got 2 brake lines, 2 stainless mounts, 2 fittings to attach the lines to the mounts, 2 banjo fittings with 4 crush washers but only got 1 clip to hold the fitting in the mount......
