Quick question: If I add my 5 to 4 LED taillight converter behind the dash the two purple wires in the rear harness are not needed any longer correct? As the converter adds that current to your tail lights which will brighten when the brakes are applied.
If desired these could be used for adding an additional circuit for a trunk light, etc. my focus is just making sure I’m understanding the diagram and wiring. Doing it behind the dash seems easier and cleaner than doing it in the rear harness and having the converter more exposed to elements.

Below is the wiring diagram I’m following. Thanks for any replies!

Yes. You no longer need them after the converter.

Suggestion, put that converter at the back maybe under the trunk aluminum. I have heard some folks have trouble with them, if its behind the dash its a PITA to get to or even trouble shoot. The very back flat of trunk is an ideal spot. I put a small terminal block on each side of it, so it could easily be tested and replaced if needed. Being a mechanic for over 40 yrs, I just look at things differently knowing you may have to access parts at some point.

Correct! Glad you found it helpful, I first created that to make it make sense for me.

Harness plug from front to back was incorrectly assembled. Ground and purple wires were aligned on opposigte plugs. Popped about 20 fuses back traking and chasing wires for hours before realizing the error. Will post a picture if I can find out how

Unfortunately, that has been a problem lately. Several folks have reported the same issue.

Install it into an easily accessible area. I insulated mine in the trans tunnel. Those units don't seem to be that great of quality.
