I have a 12v cigarette style adapter installed to take a USB port. The 12v adapter is grounded to the frame and connected to the brown radio wire. When I insert my USB adapter (for iPhone), the #10 fuse for my gauges blows every time. Any suggestions?

How many amps is the charger rated for?

Could be the way the socket is constructed. I had a similar problem with mine. Every time my son would plug his phone in it would blow a fuse. Eventually found that the way his charge adapter was made it would short between the hot and ground in the socket. We found that if the adapter was clocked just so it would be ok but off from that position it would short.

I didn't install the adapter, so I'll need to investigate. Thanks!!

If I use a 12v / 2.4 amp adapter, might that be okay?

I think the radio wire is on a 10 amp fuse so you should be ok
