Finally!

After 6 months I've harvested all the parts needed for the build (according to the build manual anyway).

Now I can get that green carcass that was a mustang out of the garage before it snows... my wife will be happy.

Wow, learned alot through this process - I understand now why many of you choose to buy your parts new for these 2 reasons: (1) saves the pain in the arse of getting the parts out & cleaning them up. (2) ensures new parts.

Live & learn.

That was one clean mustang! Bet you can sell the body for some coin on craigslist!

I don't regret going the donor route. Learned a lot from the dismantling, cleaning parts, etc.. Saved some serious coin as well, that I can now pour back into the gas tank..lol

Your donor body, roof, etc, does appear to be in great condition, so if that is any indication of the parts you harvested from it, they should be in great shape..What kind of mileage did it have? Those 5.0's will run a long time, with basic maintenance..

+ to all the above. Unless there's something I'm not seeing, you should get decent $ out of that shell. I made more from selling parts/the carcass than I paid for my donor, and it didn't look nearly as good as yours; bad re-paint, mismatched panel colors, dents, nasty interior. Think positive, after refurbishing the donor parts, the rest of the build is quite clean!:) (Unless you do your own bodywork/paint, but that's another story.)

Thanks guys.

The body is in great condition. Does have a ding on the hood where it looks like someone had an "oh ****" moment during parking. The paint is new - matches the original... so when you open the engine bay you can see the old vs new paint but only on close inspection.

I'll offer this to my cobra buddies first... if I can't sell it here, I'll look to ebay & craigslist.

If anyone is interested, give me a call or email. 518-222-5668. go_speed_racer_2000@yahoo.com.

$1,200.

4) 4-lug to 5-lug conversion done.
5) Front end suspension done.
6) Wheels & tires on.

8) Steering rack & column in.

Where did you guys find your donors? I haven't gotten serious yet, but am checking on Craigs list, AutoTrader, ebay and a few other sites. I haven't seen anything come through the local Co-Parts auctions. Any advise? I really just ned to get in the mode of looking at a couple of cars each weekend. I have about 4 - 6 more weeks of house renovations to do first.

The tear-down sounds like part of the fun. I may retract that after many nights of wire brushing and cleaning.

I paid too much for my donor. Found it on ebay, paid $7K for it. Drove it 300 miles home. Such a shame to tear apart a perfectly fine automobile.

Check the classifieds on this site. You might find one.

Saratoga Springs. I lived there a long time ago. I was in the Navy and was there to run the nuke plant.

I had WAAAAAY too much fun in that little town. There was a great Irish pub called The Parting Glass. 15 years later I ended up living next door to a niece of an owner in SC. Small world. I think I would be dissapointed if that place was not still there, even though I haven't been there since the 80s.
