I've had this idea in my head since I started building the car and I finally got around to executing it. I absolutely hate sitting in grid in a hot car with no airflow around me. Air movement helps a lot and I wanted to make cowl vents functional while keeping the original vent look. Here's a video showing what I came up with. I forgot to mention in the video, but I also made a pair of flat aluminum block off plates with the same footprint and hole pattern as the scoops. So, if cold or rainy, just pop off the scoops and put on the block off plates. Both of them have foam gasket sealing tape.

Excellent idea, and stunning build to boot! On a separate topic: love that matte color, can you tell me more about it?

Thanks! The paint is traditional automotive basecoat but I used a flat clear coat that's common in the hydrographics industry and is supposed to be very durable. So far it hasn't disappointed. I wipe off cone scuffs from autocross with lacquer thinner and they just disappear. The color is Ford Vermilion, code EP, which is the bright red common to 90s Fords. The clear is Brain Dead Flat Clear by Big Brain.

Rich, forget the vents tell us about your car!!! Love the color and the build looks first rate. I do like the vents clever!

Here's the build thread. The thread didn't gain much traction while I was building it.

Please let me know if you get warm air from the radiator feeding those scoops. I usually put my hand out the door by the pillar to scoop in cool air, but many times all I get is hot air exiting the radiator. I need to get something plumbed for some fresh air and I'm looking for ideas.
Thanks,
Perry
