Finishing up the front suspension, I put on the castle nut on the upper ball joint and was going to put the cotter pin in. Then I noticed in the same bag, there is a snap ring that I am unsure where to put. I assembled the koni shocks and used the snap rings that came with that kit already. Reviewing the manual, I dont see any use of a snap ring anywhere. Any ideas?

Looks like they sent you extras, or they are for the rear Konis.

No, not the rear ones either. Those had their own snap rings too

Some ball joints come with snap rings like that that go on the stud side of the control arm under the boot as a just in case to make sure the ball joint won't back out. As far as I know all the FFR ones are welded in.

Is that the bag that came with the upper ball joint, or with the lower control arms? My lowers came with a snap ring in the bag, and the snap ring fit into a groove on the ball joint.

I agree with JTY...

If those are the ones for the lower ball joint, be careful to pull on the boot a little to get the "bellows" diameter minimized so that you don't pinch that rubber as you install the clips :)

My LCA came assembled with the boot already in place. I didn't realize that though and put the damn blue boot on it and went to town tightening the spindle down then went to do the upper and realized my mistake. Now, because I hit the doubled up boot with my BFH trying to get that spindle loose I have to replace both of them. That snap ring came in the box with the upper ball joint along with the castle nut and cotter pin. Is that one supposed to go around the outside of the upper boot? and if so what would it hook to? When I put those upper ball joints into the UCA I made the underside flush with the surrounding metal so there's no "lip" or anything to shove the boot onto and then clip on top of. Now I'm wondering if I should have driven that ball joint all the way home so the top side met the top of the UCA. There was so much resistance though I didn't want to damage it. It was already slipping out of my vice at that point.
