I have a gen 2 coyote and TKO 600, both new when I assemble the car. Lately I have been having a real problem getting it in reverse. I have 1000 miles on the car. Any suggestions?

First thing I'd check is your clutch adjustment and confirm it's completely releasing. A little drag may not affect the forward gears, but could affect reverse. Of course, I'm assuming you're pushing the clutch all the way down. Usually when I have trouble shifting it's because I get lazy and don't push the clutch all the way. But maybe that's just me.

Second thing is what you're experiencing isn't that uncommon with the TKO, although I didn't have that with the couple I've had. Reverse doesn't have syncro. If you put it into another gear (like 4th) and then without releasing the clutch try to put into reverse.

I'm just following edwardb around today it seems. +1 again.

My TKO600 is only ever "difficult" to put into reverse. And that trick is the answer. Pause, put into gear (i use fifth) and then reverse. I kinda like it, it makes me feel this is a bullet-proof serious gearbox LOL

Paul and James - thanks for that tip! Reverse is also tricky for me to engage on my TKO600. I will definitely give this a try.

I did tried 5th gear, didn't work. I will try to adjust the clutch and maybe re-bleed it as well. Thanks guys for the quick replies.

X3 on what edwardb said. No synchro on reverse so you go into a forward gear and without releasing the clutch go quickly into reverse while the countershaft is stopped.

Also check to make sure you don't have interference between the shifter shaft annd the tunnel cover, or the shift limiter bolt.

What is the shift limiter bolt, and where might i find it?

I have an aftermarket short throw shifter. It has a bolt with a nut at the forward and rear shift positions. It's there so the shifter doesn't push to far on the shift linkage internal to the tranny. They are found on the ring of the shifter that mounts to the top of the tranny, that is if you have them.

Zoom in on the shifter and you can see the two bolts forward and aft.
