I'm just about ready to start body work. When it arrived I noticed a damaged spot where the gel coat had been knocked out on the high point on the left rear wheel well. It is about an inch long. I have vinyl ester resin and Rage Gold ready to go, just not sure which would be best to use.

It isn't very big so unless you see stress cracks, the Rage Gold is likely all you will need.
It appears from your picture that it was just a Gel-Coat Bubble issue.
Sir Jeffski I'm sure will chime in with the best solution.

After you trim the wheel well lips (and you ARE trimming them, right?) you should be able to feather it out and use Rage. Good chance that there's more crater below the surface so poke around on it.

Thanks for all the responses.

Yes I will be trimming them and the edge of the gash is right about the 1/4 inch point. I will post more in the build page when I get it going.

Jeff,

On a MKIV how small should those lips be trimmed to? Trying to get an idea of what I should do with them.
