Awesome Ian. Very helpful. I love the first slide. Our president has finally figured out how to stimulate the economy :D

So I guess Barack Obama get a transaxle before the people that paid in advance, over a year ago? Wow.

I guess that seals it for me. If I Ever build another GTM, it'll have a Ricardo box in it.

Now if that box were going to Newt...

Thanks for the new pics Ian.

Just for everyone's information, you cannot use the LS7 clutch/flywheel with this transaxle because it is too thick. Ian's documentation in the link above tells what clutch/flywheel combo to use.

I may be wrong, but I think he put that label there as an example using a well-known address.

Calm down...

It was more of a slam against Obama than Mendeola. I was making fun of the the shipping address going to Obama instead of the GTM crowd. And the only way I could get past that was if it were at least going to a republican... Not that I'm trying to show any favoritism.

Have a nice day.

Aren't the LS7 and LS3 clutch/flywheel the same?

ArtGirl,

Yes, they are the same and they don't fit with this transaxle. You need to have the LS1/LS6 combo. The flywheel is flat for the LS1/LS6 but is stepped on the LS3/LS7 and that's what kills it. The pressure plate is actually resting up against the throwout pivot arm.

I have an aftermarket clutch kit for an ls1. Can any one tell me the thickness of the stock pressure plate before I install it? I would rather not mark it up if I!m going to have to send it back. The stock pilot bearing is ok to use right.
Thanks

Mendeola thanks for the quick reply. Looking at Joe m!s pictures it looks like the new pilot is flush with the end of the crank. Is this true? Do I need to pull the stock one to use the napa one. I believe I will be one of the next one or two in line. I!m trying to get every thing in order so I can install the tranaxel when it gets here. Do you have a measurment for the thickness of the stock pressure plate?
Thanks
Leonard

"The new pilot is flush with the end of the crank. Is this true?" yes, its true.
"Do I need to pull the stock one to use the napa one." No, you can use any of those suggested on top of the stock unit.
"Do you have a measurment for the thickness of the stock pressure plate?" No,sorry I have no measurements on a stock unit.
Use any of the units in the instructions and they should work.

Leonard...The height of the stamped pressure plate shell (not including spring projection or diaphram fingers) is 2.25 inches. Measurement was made on factory pressure plate removed from 2001 Camaro (LS-1). HTH
