Hey all, haven't been on the forum as much lately but I'm happy to report that I just passed 1,000 miles on the car yesterday. For you new guys out there or those struggling to finish the build, I came here to say that it's worth the effort so keep going! I was so excited about this car when I put the order in that I had trouble falling asleep that first week. Hard to meet those expectations and after 1,000 miles I can confidently say the car has smashed EVERY expectation I had! So much fun to rip it up around town, especially with unsuspecting passengers. What a unique and fun experience to build your own car.

Jeff Miller and I prepped the body to drive in gelcoat about a year ago. He's going to paint it for me soon.

congrats! I drove in gelcoat for 2 yrs until I was able to get it in the body/paint shop where it currently resides. From my understanding you might be one of the last paint jobs from "da bat" before he hangs em up.

I change my mind daily, but at this point I'm thinking of driving the car in primer for a season. That way I'm on the road next summer and paint happens the following winter.

Awesome

I am 100 miles in. I keep checking my torque viz etc after every few drives. Does that ever go away?

Agree, worth it every time I hear that lopey V8.

Just turned 10,000 miles over the weekend. She was two years old this August. Only issue I've had where the door handles coming apart internally, which was an easy fix. I check everything under the car for tightness every two thousand miles. Good hardware and locktite make this a nonissue. I drive it every weekend and usually put on 150-200 miles a weekend. Love this car.

That's awesome, 10K miles in 2 years! Do you use a checklist for your 2K maintenance, or just go over everything you can access?

I'm glad I drove it in gel coat. I didn't worry a single time about my kids crawling all over it, leaving it in a parking lot, or rock chips...

Yes, he's going to squeeze me. Hoping to drop it off in a week or two...

Congrats…. I’m chasing you. Got 480 miles. My goal is to be there by October. I find I love driving the car and as my confidence grows on its reliability, the further I’ll drive.

Congrats! Same feelings for me at about 350 miles in gelcoat. I’ve taken it to a few car shows and get lots of questions about what is wrong with the paint? They are talking about the mold lines I ground down.

I have a lift in my garage and it makes any kind of maintenance easy peasy. By pulling the wheels you can access everything at eye level. You tend to do maintenance more often if it's not a chore. I couldn't live without my lift. I'm too old to be getting up and down off the floor. It hurts too much.
