View Full Version : Hydraulic Clutch Line - Routing?

I've got the hydraulic clutch kit from FF that will be connecting to a TKX transmission (Blueprint). My question is how are people routing the 30" -4 line that comes with the clutch kit? My thought is to drill a 5/8" hole in the footbox (see picture) and route the line through there with a grommet to protect it. Would love to see some pictures or examples how others have done this. Thank you!

I used a 90 degree bulkhead fitting.

I routed mine with the rear brake line until I got to the 4" frame tube, then over and back to the slave cylinder.

I did exactly what you are planning. Braided steel line through a grommet right in that location, then straight down in into the tunnel to meet up with the clutch slave. No extra connections to worry about.

I did the exact same as Alec. If you're installing a throttle linkage, mock that up to be sure you get the hole in a place it'll never interfere with the lever arms or pivot rod.

Alec, do you have any pictures of where you have the hole?

John, great point! I’m still debating on whether to use the mechanical linkage or the FF throttle cable. I’ll make sure that’s sorted out.

This is the best picture I have of it but I used the line that came with the kit and drilled a hole on the side of the footbox. I cleaned it up with a grommet. It's then one bend straight to the clutch.

I ran mine through a grommet in the side of the footbox close to where you are indicating (just below the throttle linkage). The stainless threaded line is from Forte's clutch cylinder kit.

I suppose I should have said, but I went with a SS braided line with -AN3 fittings on each end. Much easier to run than solid line, and works just fine with a hydraulic clutch.

Thanks for the great suggestions. Here's where I ended up drilling the hole and routing the line (will get a different grommet).

That'll work.
