Many years in the making, but now, at 42 years old, I’ve finally ordered the kit I’ve been coveting for well over a decade. By way of background, I grew up poor with nothing and barely graduated high school —and went into the Marines two weeks after I returned 18. After getting off active duty, I spent a couple years in engineering school before I got sent to the wars in the Mideast in 2002. After that, I didn’t finish school or go back to my old job, but I spent many years bouncing between jobs before I ended up as a firefighter/paramedic for about 10 years, until the time I started to law school in 2016. Graduated first in class, and got the job I love doing. So, yeah, life has been good to me (at least lately) and I’ve earned all of it. Including this.

I just ordered my complete kit with IRS, Coyote install and PS setup, and all the other basic stuff.

I’ll be getting my Coyote from Forte and I plan to integrate a RaceTCS traction control along with an ABS system from a 2008 GT500. I’ve already confirmed operations of the ABS unit, but built a full test bench. I’ll do a write up on that when I have a chance.

I’m not sure what all changes I’ll be making, but there will be some. I plan to do a veneer by overlay on the dash and trans tunnel, e-brake, and whatever else I come up with as I go. I expect this to be a 3-4 year project because of how much time I spend traveling. But, I’ll never be in a rush, and will be doing it with the highest attention to detail, which is needed to satisfy my anal-retentive/ADHD propensities.

Welcome to the excitement! I'm not far from you in Flower Mound, maybe we can catch up one day.

Absolutely! I’d love to come see your setup sometime—your build is one of the prettiest blues I’ve seen!

Congrats! Are you going to do a build thread?

Welcome to the madness and thanks for your service! Fellow vet here and I’ve got a build similar to yours including a Gen3 Coyote/Tremec TKX from Forte. Tons of others with detailed build threads with our same specs JohnK, EdwardB, mmklaxer. I recommend doing a build thread as it’s a good outlet to share your build story as well as build friendships with other builders. Reach out if you have any questions!

I will be! I’ve already spent a good amount of time working on the ABS system and will probably start my build threat with that write up once I’ve finished—just working on figuring out an ABS light now. If not just for my own chronicles, it should get info out there that the existing resources don’t fill in—at least from my research of the info out there.

I’m also considering getting the gear and DIYing a coating system from https://spectrachrome.com/ Of course, that’s still a couple years down the road. After saving for my kit, I’ve got to start saving for my power train!

You and I have very similar builds. Mike just emailed me, my coyote is on its way. And my kit completion date is in a month. Welcome!

Nice, and congrats! How long did it take from order date to shipping for the motor? I’ve exchanged some emails with Mike, but that question never came up other than him mentioning he has a bunch of them already built-out and ready to install.
