View Full Version : LeMans fuel filler disassembly
I need to disassemble the flip fuel filler to get it blacked out. I know this has been done before and some noted it may break. Are there any tips for disassembly to minimize the likelihood of damaging things? Looks like I just need to back out the three pressed brass pins, but disengaging the spring first on one.
Thanks

JJK,
I did this and just reassembled mine. All I did was use a steel punch and dead blow hammer to knock out the 3 brass pins. Use a block of wood to support the lemans cap/body so it doesn’t take any of the force and make sure there is room for the pin to drop out the back side. It was a bit nerve racking to do the first one, but got easier as I went.

Junbug,
Thanks for the tip. Any issues reassembling? I assume I can just put in a vice and squeeze back together?

Yes. Just be careful if you use a vise that you don’t scratch your fresh PC! Also the retention spring to keep the lid closed is a little challenging but once you get how it works you just need to turn the pin so you get the right tension.
