View Full Version : Toe adjustment question

Happy Friday everyone --
I’m starting to prep all of the parts for the IRS assembly, mostly because I want to be sure that I have all of the right fasteners and know where they go before having to scramble mid-way through the install. As other posts have mentioned, with more recent deliveries, the IRS fasteners come in a box and it can be tricky to know what goes where – think it’s just something they’re working through on the inventory side at FFR.

This brings me to my question on toe adjustment spacers. I have the following spacers in the IRS kit - upper right of the picture (not the ones for the Koni shocks, those are definitely different sizes).

I think I have a few issues.
1. In the instructions below, it says to use 2 x 0.25” spacers on either side of the rod end, and thread the 5/8-11x2.5 bolt through. However, I only have 2 x 0.25” and 2 x 0.125” spacers. Am I missing 2 spacers?
2. Next, the 0.25” spacers that I do have won’t go onto the bolt (maybe I need to bore them out a bit?) – anyone else run into this?

I did find a few posts that give some clarity.

In this one (which was quite the heated exchange – yikes guys), it seems there was feedback from FFR that the spacers should both be 0.25”. This would mean the schematic is correct (it shows 2 line items for 0.25” spacers…not sure why they’re different part numbers though). But that the actual instructions that are a few pages later in the manual are incorrect (it references 0.25” and 0.125” spacers).

Interestingly, this more recent post has pictures that seem to use the two different sized spacers.

I think it's probably as easy as boring out the existing .25" spacers a bit, and then finding 2 more. If I don't want to bug FFR, anyone have any recommendations on where to get 2 more?

Thanks!

If you keep reading on in the instructions it says to use an 1/8" spacer and a 1/4" spacer (page 18). I would avoid using the pictured BOMs for parts selection and sizes as much as possible. Use the text written out in the instructions and use the BOM pictures, but try to avoid using the BOM text unless you need to. From what I remember the BOM text was wrong quite often

I did use a de-buring tool on a couple spacers, there was a a bit of raged material on the inner edge. The parts BOM picture is indeed inaccurate, the assembly text is correct and says what side to put the 1/4 and the 1/8 inch spacers

Thanks guys. The post saying that FFR had confirmed that the spacers should be equal threw me off. Sounds like I just need to bore the spacer out a bit.
