Hi there,
There has been some posts about mounting various power steering pumps to a SBF. Be aware that the Mustang II power steering rack likes less than 800psi pressure; spec max is 1000. GM pumps (and others) put out too much pressure and need to be modified to prevent blowing up the rack; or use a Heidts proportioning valve to reduce pressure and give more steering feel. Check internet for pressure reducing methods.
Enjoy,
Jeff

For me I chose a 1965 Mustang power steering pump because of its pressure (800-850psi) and cost ($100-150); even available in chrome for an up charge. Even with its low pressure the steering was too light for me so I added the Heidts adjustable valve...perfect! I have the CVF V-belt FEAD with the Bronco PS bracket and everything fits.

I have a GM Saginaw style pump because I t’s looks awesome. I used a restrictor to drop it to 650 psi. It handles beautifully.

Can you tell us more about the restrictor you used?

Sure, this is the PS pump I used.

CVF racing sells an 800 psi reducer as well (link below) I used one very similar. I just tried to find it and it does not seem to be available from where I got it.

Now they are selling this instead. I have no experience with this setup but it gets solid reviews.

What did you use for a mount?

Great share, I had never seen this kit and I was poking around on their site a couple of times!

This is why you want to reduce the power steering pump pressure
I was out on the track at Indy and the engine was seeing about 6G rpms and just as I was finishing my session out on the track the steering got really hard to steer. I missed my pull in off the track so fought with the steering wheel to get back to the pit pull in. There was the director asking me to pull over. He had me stopped there for a few minutes then asked didn't you see the flag. Yup I saw the flag and if you would let me through I can get the car into the pits before it dumps the power steering fluid all over your shoes. By then I began to know what had happened. Red fluid was dropping on his shoes. then he looked down and said you can go now...

The pressure blew the hose right out of the rack! Notice the left - there are NO threads to install the power steering hose!!

He had walked right up close to the front of the car. I think was trying to "make a point"!

Very timely post for me, just installed the Saginaw setup on mine, but haven't started it yet.
How does this CVF Pressure Reducing Valve install? (On the pump output port?)

Yes, that's right.

We've used this part when we've stuffed Small Block Chevy's into Fox Body & Later Mustangs.

They work just fine; however, I felt like they still over boosted the system but these cars had skinny front tires since they were primarily 1/4 milers instead of corner carvers. All ran skinny front tires that were 215's or smaller widths.

I wish we would have known about these solutions specifically modified for Ford Racks!

Will this Saginaw Power Steering Pressure Reducer fitting work? (Jegs is out of stock until end of Sept).
Just double checking, this replaces the current output fitting (remove old and install this unit). Wish I had known this before I bought the 6AN adapter, could have done it with 1 fitting.

Thanks for the heads up @Jeff's First FFR

This is almost identical to what I used. I never thought to look at summit for some reason.

The one you have listed seems to be the same thing in a one piece form. I used the 2 fitting setup.

Edit***

Actually I think I found the one I purchased.

Why are you using a Mustang II power steering rack? These cars are designed to use a Fox body Mustang or later rack. The stock Ford pump makes between 1200-1500#'s of pressure

I’m not but the steering is over twitchy with the Saginaw and Fox rack as well. The reducer improved it.

You can also pick up a Saginaw pump that has the lower pressure and skip the reducer.
I did the Tuff Stuff 6174B, it has reduced psi for the Mustang II racks.
