Guys, watch out for this guy, Facebook name: Henry Johnson (not his real name or photo). He is a FB scammer. Unfortunately, I fell victim to him.
I should of done more research. Live and learn. His paypay name is in the title line. BEWARE.

I saw it on FB also. Pro tip: 99 percent of time if the poster turns off commenting it’s a scam.

Here's the problem with a lot of the fb pages. The administrators that run them are more concerned with the number of members vs. the quality of the members. I saw a post on one of them last week boasting "we just hit XXXXX number of members". There are a few that are run more strictly, that have more stringent safeguards in place, and quite honestly are more "Family" friendly. But even we have a few scammers slip through every once in a while. As Jeff said, turning off the comments is usually a dead give away. I mean, why wouldn't you want folks to ask questions? Glad your CC company stepped up and investigated.

yeah, $150 for a pair of stainless spats is probably too good to be true.

FB is and always will be a crap show. Not sure why everyone uses it nor why it’s so popular. It’s a distraction to life and every minute spent there you will never get back. The only thing I have used it for is Marketplace as CL has lost a lot of ground.

FYI, that's all social media websites. Ad revenue is heavily based on potential traffic.

Unfortunately that's also where some of the good data lies so watch your step. Or in this case, buyer beware.

Very Cool Parts does occasional runs of aluminum spats.

Like Frank said, quality over quantity. I rejected a potential member this AM. We run a tight ship around here.

...and we'll ALWAYS be about serving the community, not hit counts and eyeballs.

:)

EDIT: Hey look! My 6000th post! :)

Call me old school but direct on-line transactions with individuals are a last resort for me, both as a buyer and seller.

It's at best In-person or at worst eBay/PayPal here.

I have done the odd transaction with forum members here but only after doing my due diligence.

It's safer and easier to just assume that if it's on Facebook then it's a scam. To me the #1 way for a vendor to call themselves into question is to sell things on Facebook.
