I want to install a Tremec 6-speed magnum transmission. I am told by the transmission company that the magnum transmission is 4.31 " longer than the TKX/TKO transmission.
Sounds like this maybe a little tight to fit in the car. If needed I thought about cutting out a couple of inches from the drive shaft . At this point not sure if this would be necessary.
Does anyone know of anybody installed a magnum 6 speed transmission in the Cobra MK4 Roadster?
Any information on this subject would really be appreciated.
thanks

Lot's of folks have installed the T56 magnum in these roadsters, myself included. What engine do you have? That will make a difference. I believe you also need to do the IRS in the rear. In my setup I have a Gen2 Coyote + T56 + IRS. The driveshaft is short (and FFR sells it as an option when configuring your kit). Post some more info on your specific combo and I'm sure folks will let you know what you need and point you to some specific build threads with your selected combo. Be aware there are a few additional modifications needed when you use the T56. Nothing crazy, but a little extra work vs. the TKO/TKX setup.

Darryl,
Thank you for the reply. I am using a Blue Print 302 engine. Are you saying there is a shorter driveshaft option I can order from FFR than the one that they sent me when you buy the kit? I have the IRS center section. Any more detailed info would be greatly appreciated.

Do you already have your kit or haven't ordered yet? I'm saying when you order your kit, you should have an idea of the engine/trans combo you want to go with and FFR can recommend the correct driveshaft for your combo. They make several lengths and different splines. For example, Coyote engines use the 31-spline driveshaft. There are different lengths depending on which transmission you couple it with. FFR can guide you to what the right combination is when you order (or you can call them now if you just want to gather info for planning). if you already have your kit, you can still order the correct driveshaft from FFR or they might be willing to swap it out.

Hey Cleve,

I just finished installing a 302/T56 in my Gen 3 Coupe. You can see the issues I had here. https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?46345-302-SBF-and-T56-Magnum-do-not-fit-in-a-Gen-3-coupe. I would definitely call FFR and ask them about fitment issues with that combo. In my experience, it can be done, but will take some fabrication and a custom length driveshaft to get there. With the shorter wheelbase of the roadster the driveshaft might be too short for that combo to work. Hope this helps.

I have a Magnum behind my LS3, and with the Hanlon midshift, I didn't even have to modify the top of the tunnel bracing. A custom length driveshaft was required.
