View Full Version : Pinhole Leak in Oil Pan Weld

Hi All.

My build is essentially done and I'm just working out the final few details. My son and I finally tracked down a small oil leak that has been evading us for some time. I run a Coyote with the Moroso pan purchased directly from Factory Five. Turns out there is a very small pin-hole along the weld seam on the bottom front edge of the pan where the oil weeps out.

Any suggestions on a viable fix? Brake cleaner it off, scuff it up and JB Weld? Drop the pan and take a local welder? It's such a tiny leak so I am hoping there is a quick and easy fix that will hold. I'm waiting on a response from Moroso support, but thought I would here as well.

Thanks,
Jason

Remove pan and reweld at suspected leak location, then test the integrity using acetone. It would be my first approach.

Hopefully Moroso will replace the pan.

Do not use brake clean or carb cleaner prior to welding.
A muffler shop will be quick and easy. Some pan metals do not like a lot of heat like wire welding. The metal will fracture and eventually fail.
My Dad always like to braze sheet metal. You can use a coat hanger, if brazing rods are not available.
Lotsa options.

Take a small punch and peen the hole shut. Simple & free

Great and simple idea - thanks!

Moroso asked for details and pics so we'll see where that goes, but I'll try this in the mean time.

I wouldn’t mess with it until moroso responds.
