It's been a long 5 months, but my final kit review and payment came this past week and now looking forward to an August 19 completion date and final delivery by Stewart Transport. I've spent a lot of time the past 5 months researching what my build was going to look like. So, the time it takes to from placing your order to the time it arrives actually became a benefit and time well spent. I'm an old gear head from the early 70's so I wanted to build my own engine. What's been interesting, I've always been a Chevy guy. Street rodding a 55 Chevy and then traded it for a 66 Chevy II SS (wishing I still had both). Having said that, I've spent a ton of time online researching the Ford small block. Won't bore you with all of my reasoning but I've landed on building a 347 Stroker. I found a good 91' 302 rollerblock and my machine shop confirmed it's in great shape and will perform all the machine work including balancing the rolling assembly. It's going to be built with an RPM range between 2,000 and 6,500. My machine shop will be supplying me with all the parts (so everything will be designed to work in sync and balanced) and I've decided with the help of Mike Forte to top it off with the new Holley Sniper 2 EFI, Hyper Spark 2 ignition and Holley in tank fuel pump. In addition, I've ordered from Forte the Tremec TKX trans with mid-shifter kit and everything needed from clutch pedal back to complete transmission system. In addition to Mike Forte, I've hooked up with Jeff Kleiner (fortunately he's just 100 miles north of me) who'll be doing all my body work and painting. I've got plans of documenting my build, so more to come with kit details (I did go complete with IRS). Just felt the need to formally introduce myself to the FFR family and looking forward to the build process.
Welcome! It sounds like you are a bit of a motorhead as well. I also had a 1967 Nova SS as one of my many project cars in the past, and wish I still had that one too. I know the excitement of waiting for the delivery day, but the morning of your delivery is brutal. Be sure to treat your Stewart driver nice. I had 3-4 friends lined up to help unload and do off the truck inventory (they will have that form for you) and have someone dedicated to taking photos. I had chicken, brats, and burgers on the grill so everyone had a nice meal after the work was done. I know the Stewart driver and his wife sure appreciated that. I got a call from him when he was about 30 minutes from my house, and that was tough. After 20 minutes, I was standing on the curb waiting for that big red truck to come down the road. Enjoy!

Congratulations! I had my final review on Friday. It sounds like our kits will likely be delivered at the same time. I am also in southwest Indiana, over in Posey county.

Dan Q, great advice. Thanks for the comments. Can’t wait. I did a complete 1972 Corvette frame off restoration http://www.mycorvettestory.com/storyPage/david-herrenbruck-6 , 15 years ago and what a dirty job. Enjoyed it but looking forward to everything being clean and new. I’ve got my neighbors lined up, but taking care of Stewart drivers will be added.

David,
Getting close...but I bet it will feel like a long month!

Hey! I've seen your posts but didn't realize that you were also a southern Indiana guy :)

Jeff, that’s fantastic. We’ll have to get together and compare notes. Zach at Track Master Balancing in Poseyville will be doing the rolling assembly balancing on my engine.

Jeff K, I’m sure it will but that’s Ok. I’ve got some loose ends to wrap up, but I feel really good about where I’m at and the decisions I’ve made and the team of advisors like you and Mike that I’ve secured. I’m adding the forward firewall from FFMetals so I can install a heater/defroster with working glove box I found online in a YouTube video. Can’t wait to secure my spot with you on the body/paint. I know we are a good ways away from that. I’m still leaning towards the really expensive red paint you showed me even though my wife has always wanted a yellow sports car. I’ve tried telling her I’ve not seen many Cobra’s in yellow. I’d love to accommodate her but struggling with a Cobra being Yellow unless someone can change my mind.

Yep, lived down here for a long time. I was hoping to meet you at the London Cobra Show to discuss paint and bodywork. We missed each other on Saturday.

Most definitely! It's good to hear someone else close is embarking on this craziness.
