I finally got around to recording a few drive-by's to see how my weird exhaust sounds outside the car. I know a few on this forum were also curious, so here it is. It's in the first 2 minutes of the video. It's definitely not a Cobra sounding Cobra.:D

Nice. Sounds good. The side pipes and questionable header design on almost all of our cars give a bit of a big bore unbalanced 4 cylinder exhaust note, added with at least a few small exhaust leaks from the adjustable ball flange most of us have the standard cobra exhaust in my opinion doesn't really sound great until it's over 6k rpm. Yours sounds smooth and sweet all the way through

Hi AA-Ron,
Great video your car sounds great. I am having the exact same issue with my differential. Received my new "2015" IRS package from FFR about a year ago & when I test drove the car I heard the same clunking sound, rechecked all the nuts & bolts. All good, but have the same exact side to side "slop" that you are experiencing. If you find out or hear anything I would truly appreciate hearing it. I will be investigating this as well so if I learn anything, you will learn it as well. Lastly, if any one who reads this can offer any suggestions it would be greatly appreciated. Speaking for both of us. Lastly, I really loved building this car just dropped off for paint, really hope I can quite down the clunking differential :)

Just a thought on the differential, have you checked the rod ends on the upper control arms? I thought my diff was making noise and it ended up being the rod ends.

Thanks Rsnake,
Will do. Car is at painters for a while but so I am clear you are saying check to make sure all the nuts are tight on the upper control arms or something else? Everything on car is brand new. But again, will check.

Hi guys, thanks for the replies. Regarding my IRS clunking sound, I'm still at a loss. I've absolutely verified that the sound is the slack between the input and output of the dif. It was there since first mile and has not changed in 1000 miles (its a brand new IRS from FF5). Some say it's normal, and others say its not. I did find an interesting post on a Mustang website saying they switched to a heavier weight dif fluid and it greatly reduced the noise. I'd love to sit in someone else's car with the same set up and compare the sound between shifts. And yes, I second Ray's comment, if anyone has come across this and has found a cure, I'd love to know.

So it sounds we're talking about something more than the normal backlash that's felt/heard when turning the pinion by hand?

Awesome exhaust sound btw, nice job.
