View Full Version : Trying to insatll 3link on MK1 nothing lines up
Hi I'm trying to install 3 link on MK1 . I had to remove axles to fit coil overs . I must have something wrong ,shock is way to long and I can't compress it . Do I have to remove the upper control arm to get it to fit? [ATTACH=CONFIG]187806[/ATTACH
I appreciate any feed back or help

I have no idea but is it perhaps that the bracket is upside down?

Take the adjuster sleeve off in the shock, move the retainer clip to the next indentation down on the body of the shock. Reinstall the adjuster sleeve.

Also look at the top mount. Are there 2 pairs of bolt holes? If so are you in the upper or lower. You can also drill another holt up higher if all else fails.

Thanks for the ideas the shock has the spring as lose as it can be so no tension on spring . It's a MK1 so I had to drill holes for top mount ,drilled as hi as I could judging by pictures should be close .
I am going to remove upper control arm today( it needs to come off anyway right ) it seems I need to get axle to rotate to the front or counter clock wise that would bring shock mount up and lower control arm mounting hole back . I live in Arizona so its ONLY going to be 105 in the garage Ill see what I can get done before I pass out at 67 years its not getting easier :)
Thanks you responses and pictures

If you look closely at the second photo posted by SVASSH, you can see that Gordon Levy's post is the answer.
