Wanted to get your thoughts....drove a buddy's recent build the other day - MKIV with 427 built Windsor. All new parts, etc. First thing I noticed was how stiff the clutch was....like uncomfortably stiff, especially compared to my MKIII build.
Took a quick glance for crimp or something impeding the line and didn't see anything. Could it be just a very stiff clutch spring setup? Or has someone run into this before. Curious to hear your responses.

I've heard of guys changing the supplied clutch cable out with an OEM Ford Cable and it solved their issues.
Could this be a solution for you?
I don't know but it might be.

Good Luck!

Race clutch? My clutch is very comfortable to use, even in stop and go city traffic. I'm no expert, but have read posts about stiff clutches attributed to using high performance race parts.

If its a heavy duty clutch with a cable pull he should get Forte's fork extender. Adds some mechanical leverage to the system.

I just had a customer car in that was darn near impossible to drive due to the high clutch effort. Swapped it out to an OEM ford cable and ----BUTTER!

This is why mine is hydraulic.

Yup. When I seen the bend the FFR manual expects the cable to take I went hydraulic.

I have a McLeod racing clutch, with a Ford cable. All installed by Forte, along with the Forte effort reducer. Mine's as smooth as a Honda Civic...

An OEM Ford clutch cable will make all the difference. Like night and day.

what Jeff said. I throw the FFR cable right in the trash as soon as I find it on a new build.

I had the same issue with the FFR supplied cable. Also, had to change to the Ford Performance cable. Hopefully, someone from FFR see this recurring issues and reacts.

Hey Jeff, what is the part exactly? I know you mention OEM ford cable, but what should I tell him to order?

Mike over at Fortes Parts Connection used to, and I think still does sell, a twin pack of Ford OEM clutch cables for a really reasonable price. Give Mike a call.
