Is anyone running a a Coyote gen 3, TKO 500 and mechanical Clutch cable and not using Mike Fortes clutch fork extender? Just curious as I am using it and was wondering if anyone is running without it.

Thanks
Craig

I have done many without it. No issues as long as your using a Ford cable from Fortes

Not exactly, but close. I have a Gen II coyote and a TKO 600. I'm using a stock Ford cable for the clutch. The only challenge I had was to keep the cable away from the headers. I fabricated a bracket off the block (where you would connect the lifting brackets) to tame the cable. The curve is reasonably gentle and the cable is relatively straight toward the bellhousing. So far, so good!

If you have the FF supplied cable, throw it away and buy the stock Ford cable. The supplied cable was very hard to push the clutch in, compared to the Ford cable.

The main reason I was asking is I thought there was an issue where the cable would rub on the oil pan without the fork extender to move it out of the way. I currently use it but I don't like the way that the block, not the fork extender. hangs below the 4 inch round tubes. I have the stock ford cables from Mike Forte but was thinking of ditching the fork extender. Since others have done it without issue I am going to remove the fork extender.

Thanks everyone

I'm a little different but the same. I have a Gen 1 with a Tremec 3650. I was using Fortes extender with the FFR cable. I switched to a Ford cable before driving out to LCS because I was nervous of the cable. I installed the Ford cable and got rid of the extender. Clutch cable does hit the oil pan but not really a big deal. Pedal pressure is slightly harder but not really noticeable.

I don't know if he's still doing it, but Mike Forte was selling two cables for a very reasonable price. I carry one with me (as a spare). So far so good, but I figure if the cable goes, it's easier to have one with me than to try and find something that will fit on short notice.
