Replaced 2 glass windshields before going to the Lexan, no issues since! Just need to be careful when cleaning!

I helped another owner changing out the windshield to a Lexan one. Pretty straight forward and a lot cheaper. Two issues reported from the owner:
1) his polarized sunglasses reflect a "weird green haze" and
2) he has a lot more vibration in the windshield as the Lexan is a lot more flexible.

1) I have the 520 Speedworks one and use polarized sunglasses. Mine is crystal clear. I've not seen any weird visual effects
2) yep. Same. My rear view mirror which is mounted to the top does a very annoying dance. Something I need to address.

Y'all realize that the #1 cause of cracked windshields is due to the glass being stressed because the side arms were not shimmed during installation. #2 cause is because the length of the sun visor screws was not checked and adjusted as necessary when they were installed.

My original glass windshield was done by Mark Dougherty (traveling builder), it was perfectly fine until I went autocrossing on the most pot hole riddled autocross event ever... I figured with the autocross abuse I will continue to give it that Lexan was the right call for me.

The other reason that the windshield glass cracks is the glass edge when cut at the factory is not sanded and finished off. if you take out the glass and look at the edge you will see a very ruff edge with micro-fractures in it. You need to take it to a local auto glass shop and have them sand the edge to a smooth finished edge and remove all the micro-fractures. So as what Jeff has said any pressure on the micro-fractures from screws and stress will crack the glass.
My glass hasn't broken yet but I had my glass out of the frame over the winter to replace the gasket and attempt to stop the leaks and discovered my glass does not fit well in the frame at all. The glass is basically to small for the frame. Kind of discouraging. Some work to get it out and all apart then reinstall to discover the glass doesn't fit the frame very well. Just a point of interest.

"stop the leaks" HAHAH that's cute. :-)
I was thinking of you John as I was typing that. I noticed you got a little wet on our ride home from LCS:D
