Why a new hub? What does frozen mean...installed stud and can't remove lug nut? Take a breath, re-eval tomorrow.

I feel your pain. It is way harder than it should be.
My suggestion is you use a 20ton press to press the studs in. You can cut the stud off on the spindle with a little rotary cut off.
If you don't have a press, take it to a shop and ask them to do it.
Orielly carries replacement studds that fit. (I actually have a spare or three if you need them).
Another trick I hear is to freeze the studs overnight and then use the stud tool. That being said, I don't want to worry about having weakened my studs by using a tool that depends on a sacrificial nut.
Finally, if you are in Colorado on the I25 Corridor up North I am happy to have you come over and use my press.
Feel your pain.

Is this an IRS thing? I used a solid 8.8 from a 95 Mustang GT and didn't mess with the studs.

Yes. The 2015 Mustang hubs have metric studs. The change is done so that the rear matches the front.

+1 I just did mine with my neighbor's 20T press. Now I want to get my own.

I just completed mine yesterday, used the nut/hard washer good pneumatic gun and, some grease on the threads and washer and froze the studs for several hours. I also put the hubs in the oven for an hour at 250 deg after popping out the old studs.

Not to say it was easy, but does require a good gun and some perseverance. hopefully you can grind that nut off, punch out the failed stud and try again.

Thanks Dan! I am in Cleveland! I just ordered a 6 ton bench top press. gonna try to do this "properly" as opposed to messing up the threads as the Lisle tool seems to be doing and I sure as heck am NOT gonna be using a BFH.... I will buy all new studs and start over.
and probably more scotch....

Why not just take it to a local machine shop? I paid $20 and picked up a couple of hours later. I'm sure they could get your frozen stud out as well.

It actually feels pretty good to see the studs go in with no issues.
Now, you get to also think about chasing holes in the rear differential with a 5/8th bit. Don’t be like me…
Check to make sure you have the bit.
Go slowwwwwww on the drill. I mean really slow. I damn near broke my wrist when the drill came around after the bit seized. Several times. It is no fun at all.

Thanks to all! I reordered the rear knuckles from Mike Forte. And YES! I found a local engine builder here in Cleveland that will chase those holes to 5/8" as well as cut the lobe off nice and pretty like. Guy's name is Ray Banyas, owner of Victory Engines out on the west side of Cleveland. Just a really great guy. Gave my daughter and I a tour of his shop. So cool to have someone with that level of skill and decades of experience take an interest in showing a 15 year old around....ANYWAYS...my press arrived early, took me 10 minutes to press in the studs on hub number 2. will get hub number 1 sorted today.

There is a 20Ton press from Amazon sitting on my front porch right now because I had the same experience as you. Banging out the old studs took 30 seconds. Putting the new ones in with a stud puller/bearing tool with a lug nut and impact ain't happening. I used it as an excuse to buy a bigger press. I shall be VICTORIOUS this weekend! :)

I tried this with my 6Ton benchtop press, but there's isnt' enough height between the workdeck and the ram to fit the hub in there....my service height on my press is something like 4.75 inches. So, Amazon to the rescue with a new, bigger 20Ton with a 10" service height.

I too struggled with the studs. Right or wrong, here's what I did. I chucked the new studs in lathe and took a few thousands off the knurled section. It was just enough where I could finally draw them in with an impact gun. A bit of lube on it helped too. And yes, yes, I realized it's supposed to be an interference fit, believe me even with a bit turned down, they are still not going anywhere.
I certainly hope I didn't use up all of my good luck on the studs. Mine went in easy with a bit of grease, a Grade 8 nut, and some hardened washers.
