Hi all,

I have a Tuff Stuff GM Type II pump that I'm using with my LS3 and I am working on fitting it to the FF power steering rack that came with my kit.

https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj77rysl4CAAxUZFVkFHZs_DfIQFnoECBUQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.tuffstuffperformance.com%2Fc-1267414-general-motors-power-steering-pumps-type-ii.html&usg=AOvVaw3-TM5Cwebfq0Qa-jlnYQtf&opi=89978449

My understanding is that with the flow reducer I've placed in my pump I have reduced the pressure to 850psi using this: https://www.jegs.com/i/Tuff+Stuff/908/5558/10002/-1?gclid=Cj0KCQjwkqSlBhDaARIsAFJANkjT-Hd3gL9d_fptH2TvGgoEtbvs47f2dZLKzizD7JetpHGlLm79_OE aAtfaEALw_wcB

The -6AN stainless braided hose I got that connects the pump to the rack is here:

https://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-230610

This says it's rated for 1000 psi.

I did not think about the pressure tolerance of that hose when I bought it, but I now wonder whether or not I should have gotten something stronger or if I will be okay as-is? I am very new to this and have not worked with power steering systems (or really engines at all) before this.

Also, if I need a higher pressure hose do I only need to change the line going from the pump to the rack, or also from the rack to the reservoir?

Thanks in advance for your advice.

I was in the same position as you and ended up using PTFE 6AN hose. The interwebz tells me the PTFE version is good for 3000psi. I've go karted. Nothing blew up.

Did you use PTFE on the pressure side only or also on the line back to the reservoir?

I bought enough length to accommodate both lines as PTFE. However, I ran normal 10AN between reservoir and pump.

Reminder: PTFE lines require PTFE-specific fittings.
