Sorry, I forgot to post here, just in case some friends don't catch it on the other site (I always feel like I'm double posting though).

I'm excited about this stage!
Planning to drop the engine / tranny in my roller on 12/30. The Weather Channel is predicting 54 degrees, hope a couple guys show up with their cars!!!
I'm hoping to have a couple experienced guys from the local Cobra club over to help me too.
Any feedback / suggestions are REALLY appreciated. I've never done this before, so I'm getting all the info I can gather.

I have a mk4 that is at the roller stage (less motor). I have all of the suspension completed (but not torqued down yet). The IRS is also in and the brakes, wheels, and tires are mounted. Ride height not set yet. I also ran the brake lines, installed the booster and pedal box. I have both FBs installed with cleco's (no panels are permanent yet, I want to check header clearance and spray them before final assembly).
I fitted and installed all of the panels and drilled them, but removed all of them from the cockpit for access to the hard lines and in anticipation of the engine install. I haven't installed any wiring yet (Painless wiring harness), I plan to do that in the Spring.
The engine is currently on a stand and I have an engine hoist and leveler (I also have a low-profile floor jack).
I read that it is best to lower the front-end (take it off the jack-stands) and raise the rear as high as I can get it.

I want to get the engine in, check clearances and get some measurements for FBs and wiring placement. I want to bump the DS FB in, near the gas pedal and also install some header heat shields.
I plan to take the motor back out temporarily later, for final FB mods, panel installs, heat shield install, and any wiring I need to run at the time.

Is there anything else I should plan before I install the engine for the first time?

I'm also going to cover the frame / panels with cardboard to protect them from bumps.

Here's the guys I think will be here to help around noon:
Dan
Paul
Mark
Keith
Rick

Dropping by later in the day / after work:
Rich
Leo
Jason (Wibby)

Let me know if anybody else is interested.

also, does anyone have a 1/2 torque wrench and 36mm socket, for torquing the rear axles down? I figured I'd drop the car on the ground and tighten the front and rear nuts. I have a 35mm for the front, but it doesn't seem to fit the rear.

I would love to stop by, but the drive is too far from SoCal to St Louis!
Good Luck - I've been getting sheet metal drilled the last few days.
Starting on the trunk for practice as that will all be covered by carpet when done.
