First thing we noticed was the two fuel tank supporting straps would have be bent in order for the strap to fit around the two 3/4" square tubes that extend down below the mounting pin. It also appears that the back part of the two straps will also have to be bent slightly to fit the back mounting holes. There is no mention of bending the straps in the installation instructions. Are we on the right track. Any confirmation on the strap bending would be appreciated.

A picture might be helpfull. I do remember having to tighten the existing bends in the straps to get them to form to the tank beter and reach the mount tabs.

Yes, it’s totally normal to have to bend the straps to get them to fit properly.

X2 totally normal to have to bend the straps around the tank. No big deal. Just to make sure, you did flatten the flanges on the tank where it contacts the plastic pads on the ends of the 3/4" tube? Many miss this in the manual and have trouble fitting the tank properly.

bending straps is normal. as edwardb pointed out, flatten the lip of the flanges and install the plastic caps on the tubes. Install the straps at the rear and you might need to "round" out the hinges. I remember mine was a bit too flat and needed to make it rounder w/ a punch to get it to accept the bolt. On the PS , get a longer bolt for the front of the strap. this will help you pull the strap into shape towards the tab on the frame.

Guilty of this one myself. If you want to see some pics of the before/after for this particular item they are in my build thread, posts #81-#83 (https://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?40632-ATX-MKIV-9644-Coyote-Build-Thread-(Index-Post-1)&p=502611&viewfull=1#post502611). I did end up buying some longer 3" bolts too (instead of the provided 2.5") which did help on the passenger side.
