Hey, I'm really interested in the safety facter of installing high back seats in my roadster. I've found quite a few options in the forumn that should fit fine. But my plan is to install the FF soft top. I'm currently installing the North Race cars AC unit.

I've seen where some high back seats might be harder to get in like Kirkey racing seats and standing up then sliding in is the best way to get in. That of couse won't work with a soft top.

So are high back seats going to work with a soft top installed and still be able to get in the car! lol I haven't seen any discusion on it

Race seats and a top, not sure I want to watch. Ever try to get into a car with standard buckets and a top? Nothing pretty or graceful about it.

I'm not sure but... I suppose you could recontour the seat side bolsters to lower them a bit. Might want to trim the shoulder bolsters a bit as well. I'm going to bend the shoulder bolsters inward on mine and a friend trimmed the headrest down on his to fit into a coupe. Anything is possible with a bit of creativity.

Check out the Kirkey drag high back. It doesn't have the upper side wings, should make it a little easier,

I'm not as flexible as I used to be so I may need to look at adding a headrest to the standard FF seat or pads to the headrest..

That’s what I did.

Nice! Do you have a write up on how you did it? What headrests did you use?

I documented it here.

The photos are long gone in the photobucket black hole, but I created an album here with all the photos.

The headrests are from TMI and were designed for early mustangs. The supplied bracket wouldn’t work as the cobra seat is much more curved than the mustang one, so I had to make my own. Having done that you could use any headrest you like as long as you have the plastic guides and size the hardware accordingly. Let me know if you have any questions
