Congrats!! That will be one of the momentous days for your build. It's kinda like your first born child.

Indeed! I haven't had a Stewart delivery since 2005!

If I remember correctly you had the red roadster. It was such a clean build - I really liked it! What are you plans for this one?

Wow! Good memory! It was indeed a red roadster...Ford E4/Vermillion red, no quick jacks, etc. I even glassed in the body holes for the quickjacks. It was a simple 302EFI donor build, built on a pretty tight budget. My first attempt at building anything, but as far as I know, that car is on it's 3rd owner, and still running strong after 18 years.

For this build, I'm fortunate to be able to build without a budget, so I'm kind of feeling it out as I go. I ordered a complete kit with many of the popular options, and will use the F5 Coyote option for the drivetrain (factoryfive-at.com). I plan to black out all the exterior chrome bits, and would like to buy or build some sort of all-glass digital dash...I want the car to be a modern interpretation of a Cobra. I realized after building my first one that the build was as fun as driving it, but I only took 4 months to build it. Fast forward 18 years, and I've restored a few other cars, rebuilt tons of quads and ATVs, and I just love building things. I think I'm a much better mechanic now, and have a far better set of tools, so this one 'take as long as it takes', as they say. I want to explore really challenging or seldom-used elements in this build. I want an electronic e-brake. I want heated and cooled seats. I want a power adjustable driver's seat. I'll put some sort of GPS screen in it with weather radar (because roadster). I want it to be modern, and when people see it, I don't want anyone to wonder if 'it's an original'. I won't cobble up the body at all...I want that to remain true, but the rest, I'd like to stray from the reservation, so to speak. I know I'll be in uncharted territory on some things, but that's what gets me jazzed up about it...taking on a challenge, and (hopefully) surmounting it. I'll document my build here in detail as I get into it, and will lean on this crew a lot for guidance and wisdom. No part of this journey scares me, as I think I'm reasonably competent with mechanics, electronics, etc. Maybe I'm dumb or naive (probably a little bit of both!), but I figure I can do anything with my shadetree mechanic skills, and the wisdom of this group. Really looking forward to it.

Ya the memory thing surprised me too lol. Some days I have a hard time remembering my name.
Sounds fantastic - I look forward to following your progress!
Here's a little primer for your exciting day. I have not felt that much anticipation since I was a kid on Christmas morning. This was my Memorial day, 2023. Have fun and have a few extra bodies around to take photos, help inventory the boxes coming off the truck, and to carry those 35 boxes into your garage, and don't forget to have something good cooking on the grill for the driver and your friends. (KC is known for their BBQ)

Indeed we are known for BBQ! I'm planning on smoking some brisket or pork butt so I can eat with the driver, and give him some for the road. The wife is making chocolate chip cookies for them, too! Should be fun.
