View Full Version : Best 351w mechanical fuel pump (no regulator)?

I hope I'm posting this within the correct forum here.

Who sells the best mechanical fuel pump that does NOT require a regulator? It's for a slightly warmed over 392" Windsor that has never needed a regulator. Are the Edelbrock 1725 dependable (set for 6 psi)? Does Holley sell a complimentary pump to the Edelbrock? Again, I don't want to mess with installing a regulator on my current set-up.

Appreciate real world experiences and all inputs, thanks!

I understand the desire to not run a regulator but.... A bypass regulator helps to keep fuel cooler by returning the excess to the tank before it heats up in the lines and then stopping built up pressure from pushing past the carb needles and seats on hot days or higher altitudes.

This would be my suggestion. Indicated as not needing a regulator. OK but I'd still run a bypass regulator.

Just FYI. I've run carbs and mechanical pumps for 65k miles. Everything from sea level to 14,000 feet, 4 degrees to 104. I like mechanical pumps and carbs.

Sorry I don't have a part number. I have a mechanical pump with a quickfuel 650 ss and could not be happier. Give Forte a call. He will have the right part.

Giving an accurate "best" answer is near impossible because it's a purely cost driven method and not recommended by any reputable engine builder these days. Any good or better system will be regulated at a minimum and anything better or best will include a bypass.
